[Datamart-News] OBIEE: Helpful info (file edit)

OBIEE users,

I have come across some very helpful information and wanted to pass it along. Initially, we thought we could not open an 'analysis' file without going straight to the 'results' section, which causes the file to update/run the query. However, we have found a personalized option to have it open to the 'criteria' section instead. The following instructions will be a personal choice, of each user, to alter only if they prefer (Open to results vs criteria section).


  1.  Log into OBIEE, click on your name (on the top right-hand side and next to 'Signed in as') and select 'My Account'.
  2.  A pop-up window will appear and under the first tab (called 'Preferences'), select the drop-down menu within the 'Analysis Editor' line.
  3.  Change the 'Default - Start on Results tab when editing Analysis' to 'Start on Criteria tab when editing Analysis'.

Again, this is a personal preference change and will be applied to all OBIEE Analysis files that you open while using the 'edit' option. Of course, you will still need to click on the 'results' section to obtain results; however, reviewing the criteria section first can be very helpful.

Example (Catalog menu): Open the file, using the 'edit' option.
