Power BI users,
Our team has been actively working to provide comprehensive support to users. We've carefully evaluated various Power BI Desktop features and settings to optimize functionality. Please take a moment to review and implement the recommended configurations below, as they are designed to enhance your daily workflow.
This information has also been posted to the Datamart site<https://www.oregon.gov/das/financial/osc/pages/datamart.aspx>, within the Power BI Desktop section.
Review process:
1. Open Power BI Desktop
2. Go to the File menu
3. Select Options and Settings
4. Select Options
5. Select Global
6. Select Data Load
* It is recommended to set the Background Data option to never allow data previews to download in the background. Microsoft provided this suggestion to help speed up functionality.
* It is recommended to uncheck the Time Intelligence: Auto date/time option. When checked, it creates invisible date/time tables in the background, which are unnecessary in the State of Oregon Department of Administrative Services Financial Datamart environment.

* It is recommended to uncheck the Display update notifications for Power BI Desktop option. It is unnecessary, as agency technical departments complete this operation.
[cid:image002.jpg at 01DC6F35.E592DF70]
* It is recommended to uncheck the Send Usage Data: Help improve Power BI Desktop by sending usage information to Microsoft option as it is not required.

7. Select Options: Current File
8. Select Data Load
* It is recommended to uncheck or inactivate the Time Intelligence: Auto date/time option. This is an unnecessary function when working with State of Oregon DAS Financial Datamart data.
