1. Governor-elect Ted Kulongoski named Jean Thorne as the new Director of
Human Services and Erinn Kelley-Siel as a policy advisor focused on health and
human services. He also named former DHS Director Gary Weeks as Director of
Operations and Department of Administrative Services. Read the news release:

2.  Lydia Lissman announced her resignation from her post as DHS assistant
director for Seniors and People with Disabilities, effective Jan. 31. Read the

3. DHS health officials alerted the public of hazards associated with a
commercial Christmas tree paint that contains lead. Sold under the name X-6357
Green Christmas Tree Paint, the product is one percent (10,000 parts per
