1. Influenza season is approaching and there will be plenty of vaccine this
year. Public health officials say people at a high risk of complications from
the flu and those who come in contact with them should start getting
immunizations immediately. Read the news release:

2. DHS begins a six-week review of child-welfare policies and procedures in
four counties and has directed its managers in all other counties to begin
self-assessments of local policy and procedure. Read the news release:

3. Over the past year, our field staff has experimented with new approaches
to providing client services. Bill Fink, Assistant DHS Director for Community
