WEBINAR:
DEDICATED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DOCKETS: Eliminating Community Tolerance of Domestic Violence
Presented by Anna E. Craprotta, in collaboration with Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Amy Ronayne Krause*.
Friday August 5, 2011, 12:15 PM-1:00 PM
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This training will provide you with an insight into how dedicated domestic violence dockets operate and why they can work in your jurisdiction. The interview with Judge Krause* will cover a multitude of topics surrounding dedicated DV dockets including:

• Objectives of a dedicated DV docket

• Collaborating with prosecutors and the defense bar

• Overcoming the challenges to getting the DV docket up and running

• Logistics of a dedicated DV docket

• Goals attained and lessons learned
We will also take an in-depth look at how “battering” is defined and how it differs from the penal code definition of “domestic violence”. We’ll discuss how the context of intimate partner violence must be considered for purposes of appropriate handling, intervention and sentencing of domestic violence defendants.
AGAIN, please join us Friday, August 5, 2011 from 12:15 PM-1:00 PM, via WEBINAR for this informative training! Please submit questions relating to this topic, prior to the webinar, at: aecraprotta at gmail.com.
