 PLEASE JOIN US FOR THIS WEB-BASED TRAINING designed to provide you with useful strategies to prepare your case and overcome the common challenges faced in domestic violence prosecutions.
Domestic violence is a course of conduct crime where things like pattern of behavior, other acts evidence and witness intimidation are relevant. Unfortunately, police, prosecutors and victim's rights advocates often throw their hands up in frustration when victims ask to "drop the charges" or fail to appear for court. We have come to expect victim recantation in domestic violence cases and as a result, many cases are dismissed.
While proceeding without the victim's cooperation may seem challenging, there are statutes, rules of evidence and case law that support victimless prosecution. We will review these useful legal strategies to help you overcome the challenges faced in domestic violence prosecutions. The main topics that will be covered include:
