The Other Side of Mother's Day:

Not all mothers are being pampered this year. Each year more than 2.5 million American women experience domestic violence and 325,000 of them are pregnant, according to an article from The Huffington Post. All too often this physical abuse results in murder. In a national survey of over 6,000 families, 50% of men who frequently assault their wives also abuse their children. Repeated exposure to abuse yields lifelong cognitive, emotional, and behavioral consequences for both children and their moms. This Mother's Day we honor all of the mothers affected by domestic violence, who in some cases by leaving their abusive circumstances also left that which was familiar-- their homes, their friends and communities.

Saving Grace in the Community:

May 6th: Encore Presentation of "A Walk in Our Shoes". Join us at Bend's First Friday Artwalk. TBD Loft is hosting this beautiful display of shoes made by community members affected by sexual assault. This display reflects feelings and experiences through artwork. Stop by to show your support, 6pm at TBD Loft.

Drop off diapers to Autry's shop in Bend to help moms in our shelter! Autry's 4 Seasons is located at 759 NE Greenwood Ave #2, Open weekdays from 8am-5:30pm and Saturdays from 9am-2pm.
May 11th: Please join us for our free, one hour presentation Inside Saving Grace on Wednesday, May 11 from 6-7pm. Learn about Saving Grace's efforts in the community and give us your feedback about our programs and services. Everyone is welcome. You will not be asked for a donation.
