Good Morning,

I am forwarding a (2011) resource guide from the National Judicial Education Program (NJEP), entitled: "What I Wish I Had Known Before I Presided In An Adult Victim Sexual Assault Case." The NJEP asked judges about what they wished they'd known about these types of cases and set forth the top 25 in this document, along with commentary and sources.

Obviously, the guide was prepared for and meant for judges, but I've reviewed it and think it can be very useful for prosecutors in a lot of ways: Preparing your expert witness or preparing to cross-examine the defense witness, preparing and making arguments to the court (re: PBA, "Rape Shield", Expert Witnesses, Admissibility of Evidence, etc.), crafting jury selection questions (there are links to a couple of jury questionnaires, as well), and more.

The guide also does a good job of de-bunking a lot of the myths re: sexual assault and sexual violence within the intimate partner context.
