Hello, all:

I wanted to pass along an interesting "bit" that has a DV-related component to it--the Freakonomics podcast (link below). For those of who you aren't familiar w/ the Freakonomics books, they are great and really interesting. I had no idea there was a podcast until this link was sent to me (thanks, Dan Wendel, for introducing me to another "show" I will now become addicted to). 

This Freakonomics podcast is entitled "Save me from myself".  It is about "commitment devices", meaning techniques that one can use to constrain one's future behavior--like setting up penalties for going off a diet.  The last segment is about DV (it starts around the 20:50 mark). An economist tries to measure whether mandatory arrest laws and no drop policies, which clearly increase reporting and prosecution, have any effect on the actual rate of Domestic Violence (i.e., is there less violence or just more reporting?).   I won't wreck the end by telling...
