Assisting Older Victims of Intimate Partner
Sexual Violence

On February 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. (eastern time), the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) will present a Web Forum discussion with Jennifer Gentile Long, J.D., and Jenifer Markowitz, N.D., on best practices for assisting older victims of intimate partner sexual violence. Ms. Long<http://ovc.ncjrs.gov/ovcproviderforum/asp/guesthost.asp#JenniferGentileLong> is the Director of AEquitas: The Prosecutors' Resource on Violence Against Women. She supervises, facilitates, and participates in training events, resource development, case consultation, and the delivery of technical assistance. Ms. Long is the former Director of the National Center for the Prosecution of Violence Against Women at the American Prosecutors Research Institute. She also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she prosecuted cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, and child physical and sexual abuse. Dr. Markowitz<http://ovc.ncjrs.gov/ovcproviderforum/asp/guesthost.asp#JeniferMarkowitz> is the Medical Advisor for AEquitas. She presents on a variety of forensic-related topics; provides case consultation, expert testimony, and technical assistance; and develops training materials, resources, and publications. A forensic nurse examiner since 1995, Dr. Markowitz has worked with the Office on Violence Against Women at the U.S. Department of Justice to develop a national protocol and training standards for sexual assault forensic examinations; and as an Advisory Board member for the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
