New Resource on Children Exposed to Violence for Domestic Violence Agencies and Shelters

There is a new issue brief on children exposed to violence for domestic violence agencies and shelters developed by the Safe Start Center in partnership with Futures Without Violence (previously Family Violence Prevention Fund) and the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

 In this resource you'll find:

 *   Information on evidence-based interventions for children who have been exposed to violence for use in domestic violence shelters and agencies.
 *   A checklist of policies and practices to respond to children exposed to violence.
 *   A list of available training resources on children exposed to violence.
 *   Guidance for preparing shelters and agencies to address the needs of children in their care

The National Survey of Children's Exposure to Violence found that one in four children surveyed were exposed to family violence in their lifetime. This issue brief is to aid domestic violence agencies and shelters in helping children cope and heal.
