Addition provides one more way to keep victims informed

News Release from Oregon Dept. of Corrections
Posted on FlashAlert: October 16th, 2013 4:03 PM

Oregon's VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) program now includes text notifications - in addition to email and phone - for crime victims who register to be notified about any change in the custody status of an offender. To register for notifications or to check on the custody status of an offender, victims can call toll-free at 877-674-8463 or go to www.vinelink.com<http://www.vinelink.com>.

"We are extremely pleased to add text notifications to VINE," said Oregon Department of Corrections Director Colette S. Peters. "It enhances the service and helps bring more peace of mind to those who are victims of crime."

Oregon launched the statewide VINE service in 2001, becoming the 11th state to adopt the program. Oregon VINE, available in both English and Spanish, monitors offenders being held in county jails, Oregon Department of Corrections facilities, Oregon Youth Authority facilities, and individuals who are currently on community supervision. The program has sent more than 10 million notifications since its implementation.
