[DV_listserv] Sexual Abuse Protection Order Law In Effect

Hi, All,

The new Sexual Abuse Protection Order went into effect on January 1, 2014.

I don't know how many counties have implemented a process for accessing these Orders, so I thought I would pass along this information (as an example) from Multnomah County. If your county does have a process, could you let me know, please?

Oregon's new Sexual Abuse Protection Order laws take effect January 1, 2014.

  *   Sexual Abuse Protection Orders will be heard on the same docket as Family Abuse Prevention Orders and Elderly Persons & Persons With Disabilities Abuse Protection Orders. (Stalking protection orders will continue to be heard on a separate docket at the Justice Center.)

  *   Initial applications and modifications to make protection orders less restrictive will be heard every court business day at 1:30.

  *   Applications must be completed and turned in to the Family Law clerks in Room 211 at the downtown Courthouse (1021 SW 4th Avenue, Portland) by 12:00 noon in order to see the judge that same day.

  *   Contested hearings will be held on Mondays and Thursdays.
