Good Morning, All,

A reminder to register as soon as possible for this year's Domestic Violence training at the Summer Conference (details below). We have been fortunate to receive funding to allow for a large multi-disciplinary audience, but space is still limited.

I've attached two registration forms. The first is for LE officers and Advocates (both non-profit and DA-based). The second is for Prosecutors (including Tribal Prosecutors).

Here's an article about Chief Strand and FETI: http://www.army.mil/article/72055/Army_expert_receives_national_recognition_for_combating_sexual_assault/

Though this is technically labeled a "Domestic Violence" training, the material will be invaluable to any professional who interacts and provides services to victims and witnesses affected by trauma or impacted by a traumatic event.

Registration closes on July 11th.

Have a great rest of your week!

Subject: DV TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: Russell Strand at ODAA Summer Conference

Good Morning!

It's FINALLY here: ODAA Summer Conference DV Training Registration Time!

Here's what you need to know:

What: A one-day training with Chief Russell Strand

Mr. Strand is the Chief of the U.S. Army Military Police School Family Advocacy Law Enforcement Training Division. He has established and developed the U.S. Army Domestic Violence Intervention Training and Child Abuse Prevention and Investigation Techniques courses.

Mr. Strand also developed the revolutionary interview technique known as the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI) and was awarded the 2012 End Violence Against Women International Visionary Award. FETI utilizes information about the parts of the brain that experience trauma. This technique not only reduces the inaccuracy of the information obtained but enhances understanding of the experience, increasing the likelihood that judges and juries will also understand the event.

Where: The Riverhouse Convention Center in Bend

When: August 13th, 9 - 4 pm

What's the Cost? FREE! Thanks to a generous partnership between the Oregon DOJ, the Oregon District Attorneys Association, and the Clackamas County Chiefs' Association, registration, materials, and refreshments will be provided to all attendees.

Who should attend?

* DV Prosecutors and other prosecutors who primarily handle "person" crimes

*         Law Enforcement

*         DV advocates

PLEASE NOTE:

* PROSECUTORS: Your registration application and other information will be included in the ODAA Summer Conference Registration materials you'll soon receive from Sandra Yoro. Space is limited and there are only SIXTY spots available for prosecutor-attendees.

* LAW ENFORCEMENT and ADVOCATES: Your registration application is attached to this email. Only completed applications will be considered. You or your agency will be responsible for covering costs for transportation, lodging, and meals.

o Instructions for submitting your application are at the bottom of the application itself. If you have questions about the program, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to seeing many of you at this fantastic training!
