Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
February is underway and we are well into Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. To many of you reading this, dating violence among youth and teens is at the forefront of your work. Others who are not as familiar with the topic, might be surprised to know that: [https://files.ctctcdn.com/ad007718001/7543378a-3515-40ef-acd9-2611691531cc.jpg]
* 1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence;
* Girls and young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence; and
* Only 33% of teens who were in a violent relationship ever told anyone about the abuse.
To help you all honor this month, learn more, and get others around you involved, too, take some time to get familiar with some national and local resources.
