Good Morning,
In 2005, the Oregon legislature passed a bill allowing for the creation of a statewide DV fatality review team. The team was not formed until early 2011. By statute and its own protocol, the team is obligated to submit a report to the legislature every other year. I've attached the report for 2014. This document is actually the "Executive Summary" of a larger report that will consist of four additional "mini-reports," each of which will address one of the four key findings identified by the Team in its case reviews.
Those key findings are:
Assessing and addressing the needs of children exposed to domestic violence
Improving the safety provided by civil protection orders
Identifying diverse points of intervention
Increasing community awareness and promoting cultural change.
Happy New Year,
Erin
