[Domestic Violence issues]

Ø  If it seems to you that there has been a large number of DV-related deaths this month and last, you are correct.

There have been six DV-related deaths in the first 16 days of July:

July 2nd: (Josephine Co.) Officers shot and killed a suspect who had killed his GF in Yreka, CA. (One (1) death)

July 4th: (Douglas Co.) Man killed his girlfriend (unknown cause) (1)

July 7th: (Douglas Co.) Man killed his girlfriend. He was apprehended and caught July 9th. (1)

July 12th (Lane Co.) Man shot and killed his girlfriend , set the house on fire, and then shot/killed himself.  (2)

July 13th: (Douglas Co.) Man shot and killed his wife. He called police and a standoff ended with his arrest. (1)


In June, there were also six DV-related deaths:

June 6th: (Multnomah County) Man shot and killed his wife. (1)

June 9th: (Columbia County) Man killed wife, son, and himself. (3)

June 23rd: (Lane County) Man killed parents. (2) (Note: Suspect killed himself in early July while in-custody)
