Upcoming Family Violence Coordinating Council-sponsored training:

A Culturally Responsive Approach to Working with African American Survivors of Domestic Violence

Tuesday, January 19th, 10am-12pm

Training Description:
This training will provide a brief overview of the historic and current experiences of Portland's African American Community in order to gain deeper understanding of this community's relationship with services providers and other institutions.  It will include a broad overview of the challenges and strengths of African American DV survivors, provide an explanation of culturally responsive services, and why they are important for African American survivors, and discuss ways that mainstream providers can be more culturally responsive.

Trainer:  Robin Davis, Healing Roots Coordinator, Bradley Angle

Location: SE Health Center, basement conference room, 3653 SE 34th Ave (just south of Powell Blvd.)  Please do not park in the SE Health Center's parking lot, as it is reserved for patients.  Free street parking is available around the center.  Thank you.
