Impact of Domestic Violence

Children are not immune or shielded from domestic violence. Not only do millions of children witness the abuse of their mother, but many also experience child abuse themselves.This presentation will discuss the prevalence of domestic violence and its relationship with child maltreatment. It will also explain how these behaviors permeate the day to day climate of the home, which can lead to the abuse cycle being handed down to the next generation. Identification of harm will be discussed as well as strategies to support the mother and children. Skill building and increasing resiliency will be addressed.
