Registration is now open for a free training on representing human trafficking survivors, offered by the Trafficking Law Center (TLC) on June 5th.  You can sign up here:

TLC is a new legal non-profit that supports human trafficking victims and survivors by:  providing pro bono legal services, providing trauma-informed training for attorneys, and raising public awareness and educating policymakers on human trafficking issues.

This free training will educate participants on sex trafficking in Oregon, trauma-informed lawyering, the impact of trauma on the brain, how to effectively work with clients who are victims of trauma without re-traumatizing them, and will include an overview of human trafficking in general and specific legal needs of survivors.  Attorneys who participate in this training can be added, if they wish, to a roster of attorneys available for referrals for pro bono representation of trafficking survivors.

The event is cosponsored by Free to Thrive and hosted by Tonkon Torp, 888 SW 5th Ave, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on June 5th.  CLE credit will be sought.  Please contact me with any questions, and feel free to pass along this message to other lists or individuals who may be interested.  Thanks!
