Some of you may have been aware of a grant opportunity that was available last year to apply for grant funds to bring Trauma Informed Response Training (TIRT) to your local communities through HB 2575. The structure of the grant funds for this next year will be a little different- making it SUPER easy to apply for and participate in grant funded training around the state.

Trauma Informed Response Training (TIRT)

There will be three ways to apply for funding this year:

  * DOJ will be hosting 7 one-day regional trainings around the state (dates not yet announced). Grant funds will cover costs associated with sending trainees to this training.
  * DOJ will also be hosting 2 sessions of a 4-day TIRT facilitator training. Grant funds will cover costs associated with sending trainees to this training.
  * You can also still apply for funds to conduct local trainings led by graduates of the ODOJ/CVSSD coordinated TIRT facilitator training using the approved curriculum

Funding can be applied for by LE agencies, local government agencies or federally recognized Tribal Nations in Oregon. However, the applicant can include individuals from partner/ other agencies/ other organizations in the application to also attend the training(s). This will be a fairly simple process- and will not involve a typical "grant application" to make it easy for as many jurisdictions to be able to participate.

The purpose of TIRT funds is to fund training for groups and agencies that interact with persons who have experienced trauma. Specifically, the training is intended for law enforcement officers, district attorneys, sexual assault nurse examiners, emergency communications workers, victim advocates or any other group or agency the law enforcement agency or local government determines appropriate for the training. The applications will be available Spring 2024 at Trauma Informed Response Training (state.or.us)<https://www.doj.state.or.us/crime-victims/grant-funds-programs/trauma-informed-response-education-grant/>.

More information attached in flyer, and more info will be sent out as it becomes available.
