                                National Center for Victims of Crime launched 
                                National Stalking Awareness Month (NSAM) to 
                                raise awareness and challenge the myths and 
                                misconceptions that often surround the crime of 
                                stalking. <SPAN lang=EN>On December 
                                21<SUP>st</SUP>, 2010 President Barack Obama 
                                issued a presidential proclamation

                                Stalking is often thought to be a crime 
                                effecting celebrities or viewed as a non violent 
                                offense. However, research tells us that in 
                                domestic violence situations stalking indicates 
                                greater risk for increased violence and 
                                lethality.</SPAN></SPAN></P>
                                <P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN 
                                style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Geneva"><STRONG></STRONG></SPAN> </P>
                                <P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN 
                                style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Geneva"><SPAN 
                                style="COLOR: black"><STRONG>­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­</STRONG></SPAN>In 
                                2009, the Bureau of Justice Statistics released 
                                findings in the Supplemental Victimization 
                                Survey (SVS). The SVS is the most comprehensive 
                                study of stalking to date and confirms that 
                                stalking is pervasive, women are at higher risk 
                                of being stalked, and there is a dangerous 
                                intersection between stalking and more violent 
                                crimes.</SPAN></P>
                                <P 
                                style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px"><SPAN 
                                style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: #333333; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Geneva">The 
                                SVS identified seven types of harassing or 
                                unwanted behaviors consistent with stalking, and 
                                individuals were classified as stalking victims 
                                if they responded that they experienced two or 
                                more of these behaviors on two or more separate 
                                occasions. In addition, the individuals must 
                                have reported fear for their safety or that of a 
                                family member as a result of the course of 
                                conduct, or they must have experienced 
                                additional threatening behaviors that would 
                                cause a reasonable person to feel fear. The SVS
