have already implemented a process where AT ARRAIGNMENT a Defendant
charged with either a DV or sex offense who is going to remain
in-custody is told by the judge about the prohibition of contact with the
victim. This no-contact provision is also documented on an Order that the
Defendant receives. </SPAN></P>

reminder</STRONG> for those in a position to do so to speak with your
Sheriff's Office and/or Presiding Judge/Trial Court Administrator about this new
law and how your jurisdiction will implement it. </FONT></SPAN></P><SPAN

2925 was signed by the Governor on June 2, 2011 and, because of its emergency

2940)</STRONG> was supposed to make its way through the full Ways and Means
Committee last Friday. There was apparently a typographical error/glitch of some
sort in the Bill so it was carried forward (i.e. not heard that day). No
word, yet, on when it will reappear. But, the current legislative session is due
to end shortly, so it could be anytime. I will keep you updated. <EM>WE STILL
EXPECT IT TO PASS.</EM> </FONT></SPAN></P>
