Violation of Restraining Orders can be filed and prosecuted either in the county where the Restraining Order was issued <u>OR </u>where the violation occurred.)<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>“Are Restraining Orders from other states valid in Oregon?” (<b><i><u>Answer</u></i></b><i><u>:</u></i> YES! In most cases, “Foreign Restraining Orders” are enforceable as Oregon orders as soon as a person who has a such an order comes into our state.)<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>I know FAPA information is sometimes difficult to remember and/or keep straight; the statutes relating to these orders are in multiple chapters of our Oregon Revised Code book(s) and they cross-reference each other or different statutes all together. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>In an effort to simplify things and to answer some of the more common questions, I created a quick “FAQ” sheet which I’ve attached to this email. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Hopefully, this will be helpful to you.
