<p class="MsoNormal">I’ve copied a link to a recent article on the Harvey Weinstein case that’s evolving at a very quick pace. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The author of this article worked on this piece for nearly a year, interviewing dozens of people, thirteen of whom told the author that they had been sexually assaulted by Weinstein. Others interviewed included people Weinstein worked with
who saw or suspected what he was doing but felt incapable of intervening. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">What is striking—and heart-wrenching--about the article are the victim narratives, and how much blame the women place upon themselves—for thinking they should have done more to prevent what Weinstein did to them and, in almost every case,
for not disclosing sooner, if at all. We know this is a common and tragic by-product of sexual assault:
<u>perpetrators</u> choose to abuse, using whatever tactics and/or weapons are most effective (in this case, Weinstein’s “weapons” included his power in Hollywood and control over people’s careers), leaving victims ashamed and guilt-ridden, made to feel as
if the abuse was their fault. Also very apparent, is the long-lasting trauma impacts suffered by Weinstein’s victims.<o:p></o:p></p>
