From Sabrina.Carson at wesd.org Tue May 1 08:49:11 2012 From: Sabrina.Carson at wesd.org (Carson, Sabrina) Date: Tue, 1 May 2012 15:49:11 +0000 Subject: [Erate] E-Rate Central News for the Week of April 30, 2012 Message-ID: This newsletter contains some sobering news for P2 applicants. Please proceed with caution if you are planning a large P2 equipment purchase for 2012, as funding at the 90% level is no longer a "sure thing". I will continue to bring you updates as they become available. In the meantime, I encourage all Oregon applicants, either P1 or P2, to consider looking back at previous funding years to see if there is any money left over after your reimbursements. If there is, you can file a Form 500, which will formally release the money to USAC and allow them to add it to potential rollover funds. I will be creating a sample document shortly and will make it available on the listserv. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions. See the attached newsletter for articles on: * Funding Status. The application window for FY 2012 is now closed. No regular funding waves are scheduled for this week. Priority 2 funding for FY 2011 is currently being awarded at 90% and denied at 79% and below, but the SLD has recommended narrowing the interim gap so as to deny funding at 80% and below and to fund at 89% and above. * 90% Priority 2 Funding in Jeopardy for FY 2012. Preliminary demand estimates for FY 2012 indicate large increases in funding requests. It is unlikely that full Priority 2 funding will be available even at 90%. * E-Rate Updates and Reminders. The deadline for correcting incomplete Form 471 applications for FY 2012 is May 9th. Reply comments on the FCC's digital literacy proposals are due May 1st. * Schools and Libraries News Brief Dated April 27. The SLD's latest News Brief reviews product and service eligibility issues.
