Funding waves are also scheduled this week for FY 2010, FY 2011, FY 2012, and FY 2013. * Anatomy of a Successful FCC appeal. The FCC, which had recently denied several appeals for applicants who had not evaluated bids using the price of eligible services as the heaviest weighted factor, approved a similar appeal last week. The difference had a lot to do with how the successful applicant had framed its appeal. * E-Rate Updates and Reminders. The FCC also approved appeals for four other applicants. The SLD's fall training sessions are filling up quickly. Applicants already funded for FY 2013 may file early Form 486s by checking the Item 6a box. The reply comment deadline on the FCC's bundled component proposal is June 7th. * SLD News Brief for May 31 - Summer Planning for Vendors. The latest News Brief lists and reviews the things service providers should be doing this summer. Sent on bahalf of Pat Middelburg and DAS Message-ID: Greetings: In 2005 the State of Oregon Department of Administrative Services filed an e-rate application on behalf of schools and libraries who had purchased their telecommunications services off of the state master contract. At that time, the application was denied. We immediately appealed the decision to the FCC and finally the FCC approved our appeal. That lead to a very lengthy re-review of our 2005 application and finally awarding the refunds. I am pleased to report that the requests for those refunds have been sent to the DAS business office and over the next few weeks, checks will be issued to participating schools and libraries. I am sorry it took so long to reimburse the entities for their 2005-2006 expenses, but I pleased that the federal agency approved the State's application. Regular registrations are being accepted for only two of the SLD's fall training sessions. E-Rate Central has updated its sample income survey letters for 2013-2014 NSLP eligibility. Senate hearings on the nomination of Thomas Wheeler as FCC Chairman touched only lightly on E-rate; more on E-rate may be forthcoming during this week's FCC Commission meeting. * SLD News Brief for June 21 - Appeals.
