Fall Conference for Administrators of Special Education
Safe and Successful Schools for All
Eugene Hilton Hotel and Conference Center
October 4-5, 2012
The 2012 Fall Conference for Administrators of Special Education will be held on October 4-5, 2012 at the Eugene Hilton Hotel and Conference Center. All school administrators who are interested in special education matters are encouraged to attend. On Thursday October 4, Dr. Rob Horner of the University of Oregon will open the conference with his keynote address School-Wide Systems to Improve Special Education Outcomes. Other keynoters and breakouts will be featured throughout the conference on Thursday and Friday.
In addition to this year's Fall Conference, the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) specialists will present a day-long training Success through System Performance Review & Improvement (SPR&I). This SPR&I session will also be held at the Eugene Hilton and is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3, from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. The content is meant for all audiences. This training will not replace the annual regional fall trainings scheduled for later in October.
Success through System Performance Review & Improvement (SPR&I)
The System Performance Review & Improvement (SPR&I) process is a district/program driven system founded on evidence-based decision-making. The process supports improvement planning through data collection and interpretation, improvement plan development and implementation, and evaluation of improvement strategies. Much of the data that drives the process is IEP-generated.
This pre-conference institute will consider the overlap of improved IEP development and how that directly impacts district improvement planning efforts. The session will address the following sub-topics as we apply this theory: Writing IEPs for Student Success, Present Levels, Measurable Goals, IEP Content, Service Summary, and Transition Plans.
Online registration for all three days is open now through September 28th at Confederation of Oregon School Administrator's (COSA) website: https://netforum.avectra.com/eweb/DynamicPage.aspx?Site=COSA&WebCode=EventDetail&evt_key=501817ff-a00d-478d-bb1a-a51b38852e72
Additionally, on Wednesday October 3, a second meeting of the EBISS districts that met on July 31 will be held at the Eugene Hilton. This meeting is by invitation only and is set for 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. More information will follow.
