Dear Colleagues,
Youth at risk for suicide are often seen by health care providers in the weeks and months prior to their deaths, indicating that there are opportunities to intervene[1]<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Foutlook.office365.com%2Fmail%2Fsentitems%2Fid%2FAAMkADIzOGViYTU4LWU0ZjktNDlmYy05NzMwLTY2Nzk5NmQ5NjE5YwBGAAAAAABZyk5Qk0nZTp8lCTwCwFbGBwAMvKMJAB8BQpt0K5Oqer2oAAAAAAEJAAAMvKMJAB8BQpt0K5Oqer2oAAFhXAjaAAA%253D%23x__ftn1&data=04%7C01%7Cacollier%40mphi.org%7C1ca4a0cbad2b4b74e9ad08d937602f09%7Ca4405b416d4f4d5190dd22ba251725f5%7C0%7C0%7C637601709395410217%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=JOUoyFUTD%2BXRSfxMHabswtIv%2Bm2%2BupwIidwzqFCr7cw%3D&reserved=0>. Pediatric primary care, emergency departments, and other medical inpatient units can be critical settings to identify and care for youth at risk of suicide. Since many systems do not universally screen for suicide risk and individuals are unlikely to disclose suicide risk when not asked directly, youth who are at risk may be undetected despite receiving care, and that care is unlikely to include suicide-specific interventions[2]<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Foutlook.office365.com%2Fmail%2Fsentitems%2Fid%2FAAMkADIzOGViYTU4LWU0ZjktNDlmYy05NzMwLTY2Nzk5NmQ5NjE5YwBGAAAAAABZyk5Qk0nZTp8lCTwCwFbGBwAMvKMJAB8BQpt0K5Oqer2oAAAAAAEJAAAMvKMJAB8BQpt0K5Oqer2oAAFhXAjaAAA%253D%23x__ftn2&data=04%7C01%7Cacollier%40mphi.org%7C1ca4a0cbad2b4b74e9ad08d937602f09%7Ca4405b416d4f4d5190dd22ba251725f5%7C0%7C0%7C637601709395420174%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=tLHfox%2Fxy3ER7Hk9%2FgX9j6zN6Ap6qsroQle2PTDGkL4%3D&reserved=0>.
SPRC is leading a webinar on preventing adolescent suicide in medical settings. Presenters will discuss effective suicide prevention practices for medical settings, clinical care pathways and workflows that provide guidance and support for health system staff, and ways to use the Collaborative Care Model to connect primary and mental health care for adolescents at risk of suicide.
The webinar will take place on June 30 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET. Event details are available here<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feducation.psychiatry.org%2Fdiweb%2Fcatalog%2Fitem%3Fid%3D6673452&data=04%7C01%7Cacollier%40mphi.org%7C1ca4a0cbad2b4b74e9ad08d937602f09%7Ca4405b416d4f4d5190dd22ba251725f5%7C0%7C0%7C637601709395430135%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=v3c0pd3sbSQOVkB8iNn%2FMe6JqfEbVqUxGDr28F%2BBcQs%3D&reserved=0>.
