Hi:
I want to bring your attention to a 2-part Webinar series about Vertical
Geodetic and Tidal Datums that NGS is providing next week.
On Tuesday, Feb 9, from 10AM - 1 PM (PacificTime), Part 1 will cover the
basics of vertical datums; on Thursday, Feb 11, from Noon-2 pm (PT),
West Coast/Alaska tides will be covered. FYI, on Wednesday, there are
separate sessions for East Coast tides and Gulf tides.
You may register for this free offering by going to this website:
http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/corbin/class_description/Tid_Geo_Vert_Datums.sht
ml
Your only requirement is a Java-enabled Web browser, and I recommend a
telephone (toll-free call) for the audio portion.
For reference, if you wish to be notified directly by our Corbin
Training Center about future offerings or when the audio has been
transcribed and posted, you are invited to join the mailing list, which
link is also accessible from the above page.
Please feel free to distribute this widely as the relation of geodetic
and tidal datums is one of the most mis-understood concepts in geodesy.
Cheers,
Marti
