27th Annual Conference
April 22-23rd, 2019 @ Portland State University

Welcome to the 27th annual GIS in Action conference! We are excited to have so many professionals in our industry in one place sharing what they know and learning what everyone is doing in the Oregon and SW Washington region.

Following are a few important items to consider and helpful tips as you visit downtown Portland.

Transportation and Parking

PSU is centrally located in Portland, but downtown can be busy and parking can be hard to find. There are a few parking lots owned by PSU:

See the PSU map for details<http://map.pdx.edu/#/map?zoom=16&lat=45.5107101&lng=-122.6791608&b=road&l=>

As well there are many parking lots a few blocks walk from Smith Hall, where the conference is being held.

Tri-Met is a great way to travel to the venue if you live in the metro area or are staying outside downtown. Use their trip planner to get you there.<https://trimet.org/#/planner> The university is served by the Green, Yellow and Orange MAX lines, as well as the 8, 19, 94, 44 and 68 busses.

Sched site

This year’s program is available online via Sched<https://gisinaction2019.sched.com/>. Sched has great features that allow you to make the most of your time at GIS in Action.

To get started, create a free Sched account. Once your account is setup, you can build a personalized schedule, connect with other attendees, and utilize the Sched app. While creating an account is not necessary to view the conference schedule, a Sched account is required to sign-up for conference workshops.

Sched allows you to build a custom schedule<https://sched.com/support/guide/personalize-your-schedule/> for the conference that you can access via Sched.com or download the Sched app on your phone or tablet for easy access during the conference. You can also email and export your schedule to your Apple, Google or Microsoft calendars.

Workshop Registration

New this year! Advance registration is needed for workshops. Please sign-up for workshops prior to the conference by adding workshops to your custom Sched schedule. There is limited seating available in workshops. Once a workshop reaches capacity, you can opt to be added to the Sched waitlist.

For more information on Sched features, check out the Sched Guide for Attendees<https://sched.com/support/#attendees>.

Hotel Modera

For those of you with reservations at the Hotel Modera, which is offering a discount for GIS in Action attendees (see the website), the hotel recently rebranded. I think it changed ownership, but it’s still there and reservations will be honored. The hotel is now called The Hotel Zags<https://www.thehotelzags.com/>.
