We have just made the switch from 10.0 to 10.2 on our production servers. ArcGIS Server 10.1/10.2 is a Java application and we are finding that it uses significantly more system resources, specifically memory,
than 10.0 did. We were experiencing memory exhaustion, and arcgis server was stopping frequently. We spent about a week troubleshooting this issue and were able to configure the servers to use RAM more efficiently, and today most of the services are back
up. Initially in getting the servers stabilized we had to make a judgment call in turning off some services to allow the system as a whole to keep running. As it turns out, many people have been using imagery services (and others) we had to turn off as we
were monitoring the systems.

We have planned for some time to have people begin using the imagery.oregonexplorer.info URL for imagery services.

We sent out a message in July notifying people that the 2005 imagery, specifically the old URL for WMS based on the ER Mapper technology was changing.

http://imagery.oregonexplorer.info/arcgis/rest/services .” That was a hint of things to come and we would like to have people begin the transition to new services in your apps, desktop
