The WWHGD Working Group is monitoring the early stages of another Ebola
outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). As of last week,
outbreak response teams have identified 17 confirmed cases plus 33 deaths
that seem to be related in both the Kivu and North Kivu Provinces of the
DRC. This outbreak is different from any previous Ebola outbreaks in that
it is happening within the Kivu Conflict, an active war zone with more than
a million people displaced across Rwanda, Uganda and the DRC.



The WWHGD website now hosts a new "Data Call Hub", a portal to data sources
that is live and allows members to contribute valuable Human Geography data
to the WWHGD Community in support of a data response to a critical emergent
event (earthquake, hurricane/typhoon, infectious disease outbreak). Members
can upload their data source, select the data/vector file type, rate the
usefulness of the data, note any licensing restrictions and, finally,
validate their contribution. All members can discover the data sources in
the "Data Call Live Results" area of the portal.
