Index Data Standard was reviewed at the recent GIS Standards Forum with the
intent of gaining group endorsement. Discussion centered around required vs.
optional data elements resulted in the need for additional modifications. The
current document (v 1.08) addresses these concerns with the following

all metadata records more information adds additional value to the data being
documented. All features are recommended for all projects both future and
