At yesterday's GPL meeting, I presented some material on ArcGIS online.
I thought I'd send along the handout via email for those that couldn't
make it yesterday. 

 

My suggestion is that we use the GPL section
<https://oregon.jivesoftware.com/community/agencies/das/geo/gpl>  on
GovSpace for an ongoing discussion on web services, e.g., available
services, feedback on usability and cartography, etc.

ArcGIS Online - http://www.arcgisonline.com/home/

 

ArcGIS Online is a place to share GIS tools, applications, and data in
the form of layer packages, map documents, and map services. It enables
sharing of data that you may not want to expose to everyone by defining
groups, and assign or invite individuals to join these groups.

 

GEO has posted a number of layer packages, map services, applications
and tools to ArcGIS Online, some with no access restrictions, and others
that are restricted to members of the GPL group.

 

Follow the instructions below to create an ArcGIS Online account and
become a member of the GPL group. 

 

Registration Instructions-

1.	Create an ESRI Global Account

R%2C%20GIS%20Program%20Leaders>  to be a member of the GPL Group 
	(follow link here, or search for group titled 'gpl')

 

Two Oregon-centric groups-

 

State of Oregon: Provides general, publically available data, maps,
tools, and applications.

 

OR GIS Program Leaders: Shared data, maps, tools, and applications
restricted to members of the GPL group. 

 

 

You can easily find these two groups by doing a group search using the
search term 'Oregon'.
