GPL,

There is a new page on the GEO website containing web services, tools
and applications that we have been developing. The link to this new site
is: http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/EISPD/GEO/geoServices.shtml

Currently, the services provided here are also available through ArcGIS
Online <http://www.arcgisonline.com/home/index.html> , a site designed
by ESRI to allow sharing of data, services, and tools. The 'State of
Oregon
<http://www.arcgisonline.com/home/group.html?owner=navigatOR2010&title=S
tate%20of%20Oregon%2C%20GIS%20Program%20Leaders> ' Group contains a
listing of data provided by GEO, the GPL Group contains all of the
content in the State of Oregon group, plus some that are currently not
accessible to the general public. In the coming weeks, we will also be
integrating these same services and tools through the new Spatial Data
Library <http://spatialdata.oregonexplorer.info/> . We are planning to
expand our development and distribution of web services and tools, but
we are currently in the early stages of this work. GEO plans to work
extensively with the GIS Program Leaders Group to move this initiative
forward.

Currently featured on this site:

Web Services

This section contains several existing web services (aerial imagery,
admin boundaries, hydrologic framework, and base map). I've included a
brief summary of the contents, the projection, extent, and links to the
service (primarily REST) and the MXD file used to develop the service.

The MXD files are currently being hosted on ArcGIS Online, which
requires individuals to first register (free, and open to non-ESRI
users). Currently, we are just restricting the access to the MXD files
to the GPL group, however we plan to make these available to a larger
audience once they have gone through an initial round of review. As the
MXD files don't contain the actual source data, user's will have to
point to local data sources for the map to function correctly. We
encourage contributors to provide feedback related to cartography, need
for additional services/datasets, and general usability.

Web Service Tools

Currently, this section is limited to a single address locator which is
available for testing. We will expand this section in the future as we
continue to develop new and improved address locators, and other
geoprocessing tools.

Web Mapping Applications

This section will be used to highlight applications that consume data
hosted by GEO web services. As applications currently in development
move to into production stage, we will provide links to these here.

DISCLAIMER:

The web services and tools provided here are still works in development.
Users should be cautioned that during this beta stage cartography of
these services are subject to change, and disruptions in availability
are possible.

These products is for informational purposes and may not have been
prepared for, or be suitable for legal, engineering, or surveying
purposes. Users of this information should review or consult the primary
data and information sources to ascertain the usability of the
information.
