[gpl_list] mobile apps for Oregon services

Hello Everyone.

The email below is circulating among some agency folks and I think it
would be good for GPL members to see it and respond if you have
something to add. It is referencing a web site by the National
Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) that was
showing Oregon as having zero mobile apps (as of last week). One of my
staff members, on behalf of DOGAMI, has since notified NASCIO of one of
our mobile apps and now Oregon is not shown as a state without any
mobile apps. (Follow the last link in the email below to see the map of
the US showing states with or without mobile apps.)

I'm sure DOGAMI is not the only OR state agency with a mobile app
available to the public. Our app was actually one that was developed in
partnership with Washington and another science agency, so it wasn't
100% DOGAMI developed, but it was relevant to the State and what NASCIO
is trying to show.

Please consider sending information about your mobile apps to this web
site to help promote some of the mobile services available in Oregon.

Thanks!

Hello All,

I thought you would be interested in this application brokering site
from NASCIO. Unfortunately, their map (last link) makes it look like we
don't offer mobile web services - one of 4 jurisdictions that don't.

We are doing some amazing things through for our citizens through the
web apps....we need to get Oregon "on the map"

"In the last several years states have rolled out apps to help people
find tourist attractions, take practice driver's tests, locate polling
places and much more.

"Many of the apps are included in a new catalog compiled by the National
Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). NASCIO
researchers already have loaded about 160 apps into the catalog, and
state officials from around the country are expected to add hundreds
more in the coming months.

"The goal of the catalog is to spread the word and allow states to
borrow ideas, according to Brenda Decker, president of NASCIO and the
chief information officer of Nebraska. "A lot of them are completely
open to having [their app] be transferred to other states so that they
can use it, for absolutely no cost," she said."
