Hi folks, I thought you’d be interested in the article linked in the post below from the President of NSGIC, the National States Geographic Information Council.  That is the association of State GIOs and State GIS Coordinators, to which we belong.  The OGIC Chair and a few others are members of NSGIC as a result of our annual dues.  Frank Winters, who made the post below, is the current NSGIC President.  There’s recognition in the NY Times article for the work being done in Clackamas County related to the pandemic.

It highlights enlightened GIS work in Suffolk County NY, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Clackamas County Oregon.  This is exactly the kind of work the National Pandemic GIS Task Force (a collaboration between URISA, NAPSG, and NSGIC) has been promoting, and further underscored by the OGC Health Spatial Data Infrastructure Initiative.  The use of GIS to save lives in this way must become ubiquitous.
