Good morning GPL members.

Here is the latest newsletter from the Chief Data Officer regarding a new state policy on data governance. You will hear more about this in coming months from me and/or Kathryn, or perhaps someone in your agency who has a responsibility to lead tasks in this area. But I’m sharing this with you because I believe this new policy has the potential to bolster the Framework Program and data stewardship of geospatial data across the enterprise. Check out the newsletter below.

Feel free to reach out to me or Kathryn if you have questions.

What is Data Governance?

Data and information are strategic assets of the state and must be actively governed in order to preserve and enhance their value. This policy sets forth a statewide approach to data governance and establishes a baseline framework and accountability structure for agencies to use in establishing internal data governance programs.
