Hi there!
The NGS has asked us if we're OK with two modifications to our submittal for the multi-zone tier of the Oregon SPCS2022. The coordinating team has reviewed these proposed changes and is recommending they be approved. However, we would like to hear of any issues you foresee, so please respond to me directly by July 15th if you think there might be negative consequences of these changes.
1. The NGS is proposing to modify the polygon extents of the boundaries we submitted for the 39 low distortion zones. Maps and SHPs from the NGS are available here: https://files.oprd.oregon.gov/index.php/s/ntpDkXACwBZxDXH
Note: The boundary changes do not impact the performance of the coordinate system in any way or the ability to utilize it for mapping purposes outside the arbitrary boundaries shown in the NGS documentation. The intent of these changes by the NGS appears to be to improve the overall reporting statistics for the group of coordinate systems as a whole.
1. The NGS is proposing to modify the origin (false northing and easting) of the SPCS 2022 coordinate systems for Oregon. An excel spreadsheet provided by the NGS is available here: https://files.oprd.oregon.gov/index.php/s/ntpDkXACwBZxDXH
Note: The NGS followed procedures outlined in Section 6 (f) of "Procedures for Design and Modification of the State Plane Coordinate System of 2022" available here: https://geodesy.noaa.gov/INFO/Policy/files/SPCS2022-Procedures.pdf Additional guidance provided by the Oregon coordinating team to NGS was that coordinate value ranges be significantly different than values for the current zone in NAD83 and for the most likely useable area of adjacent zones.
Thanks!
Brady
