[gpl_list] Question regarding location tracking/inventory assets

Good morning GPL,

I'm working on a project for our agency regarding some possible solutions for live location tracking of personnel and assets in the field. With that said, I'd be curious to hear of any agencies that are using GIS tools to track the location of their personnel or equipment - and if so, how they are doing it. I'd assume that there are many of you that are already doing this work and I'd prefer to not have to reinvent the wheel if many of you have already been doing this. I know that Esri has the capability to pull data from APIs through Velocity (or GeoEvent Server) - just curious how you are all doing it and if you are using any other systems, like GPS units to track these locations in real-time.
