face=Verdana>NOTICE: 1/12/2010: USGS Providing Access to new SPOT data
acquisitions.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in partnership with NASA
and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), has contracted with SPOT Image
Corporation, Chantilly, VA, to receive moderate-resolution optical SPOT
(Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre) 4 and 5 satellite data over the
conterminous U.S. and parts of Canada and Mexico for the next 12 months.
Although a direct-reception capability will be implemented by Spring, the USGS
Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Data Center is already receiving
electronic deliveries of L1A SPOT scenes and posting them for access over the
Internet at no charge for U.S. Federal civil agency and U.S. state and local
government users, per the licensing arrangements of the Data Buy contract. All
government-affiliated users must be registered and logged into the USGS
