Hi All,

During yesterday’s teleconference, we discussed (again) the GIS Project Inventory. To recap, this was something OGIC requested GPL to complete in order to provide a listing of planned and ongoing (and perhaps recently complete?) GIS projects
for the purpose of information sharing, avoiding redundancy, etc.

I volunteered to help with this months back, first using data.oregon.gov as a place to store information in the Inventory, and then moving to Google Documents due to some things which didn’t work so well with the first system.

The current project inventory is available here (available to anyone with link, but not password protected), and
here is the form to submit new projects to the Inventory.

This effort will only work if its widely used. So far, Sim Ogle and I have submitted a smattering of projects. I suggest that GPL members test by entering informant on a project or two that you are working on into the system before the
next GPL meeting (it takes only about a minute or so to enter a project). At the next meeting we can review the Inventory as it stands, see how it works for people and if we want to move forward with it. As you use it, please share any comments you have on
a thread on this subject already on GovSpace here.
