Tooth Wisdom Project


Tooth Wisdom: Do you want to get smart about your mouth?

Our oral health is closely related to our general health status. With age, we are more likely to have chronic health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, and we are also more likely to have oral disease. So, as we age, it becomes even more important to take good care of our teeth and mouth!

The Institute on Aging is coordinating with Oral Health America to offer free educational workshops on oral health throughout the fall. The one-hour workshops are held at community sites in the Portland metro area and other Oregon locations; they are led by professional dental hygienists. 

Below is a list of our currently scheduled workshops; more dates and locations will be added over the following months. If you have questions about the workshops or if you are a community site interested in hosting one, please contact Iris Wernher (wernher at pdx.edu or 503-725-5236) at the Institute on Aging.
