<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and CDC announce the launch of the “Tips from Former Smokers Campaign,” a national tobacco education ad campaign featuring
real people who suffer daily from smoking-related illness. <span style="color:#1F497D">
</span>The event will take place today, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EDT, at the Newseum, in Washington, D<span style="color:#1F497D">.</span>C.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">National Tobacco Education Campaign goals are to increase the awareness of the dangers of tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke and motivate smokers to quit.
<span style="color:#1F497D"> </span>The primary audience for this campaign is smokers, ages 18–54.
<span style="color:#1F497D"> </span>The campaign will include broadcast, print, radio, out-of-home (billboards, bus shelters, and movie theaters) and digital advertising.
<span style="color:#1F497D"> </span>This campaign features a variety of real people who have suffered from tobacco-related disease and continue to live with the effects.
<span style="color:#1F497D"> </span>To underscore the immediate damage that smoking can have on the body, the ads feature people who experienced smoking-related diseases at a relatively young age.
