Program Overview:<br>
<br>
The Hepatitis B Coalition of Washington state (HBCW) is dedicated to<br>
preventing and reducing hepatitis B disease and its complications through<br>
innovation, education, and community partnership.  Educational and awareness<br>
activities are designed, implemented, and evaluated with active engagement<br>
from priority populations  in which the incidence of hepatitis B is<br>
disproportionately high, primarily those born in Asia and Africa and the<br>
providers who serve them.  HBCW at the local, state, and national level with<br>
individuals and community based organizations (CBOs) to identify gaps,<br>
opportunities, and culturally appropriate strategies.<br>

General Job Description:<br>
<br>
The primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is to facilitate the<br>
continued development and coordination of this statewide coalition and its<br>
various projects and initiatives.   Additionally, this person will use<br>
his/her existing relationships and knowledge of the priority populations,<br>
with a specific emphasis on the African-born immigrant and refugee<br>
communities, to cultivate and sustain collaborations and emerging<br>
relationships.  The HBCW Program Coordinator must demonstrate cultural<br>
competence and sensitivity in building and maintaining such partnerships in<br>
order to produce community-driven initiatives.<br>

Primary Responsibilities:<br>
<br>
Program Planning & Coordination<br>
<br>
·         Develop and strengthen partnerships with priority populations,<br>
primarily African-born immigrants and refugees, and those health care and<br>
social service providers who serve them.<br>
<br>
·         Coordinate, implement, and evaluate community-based projects with<br>
such partners in accordance with HBCW’s strategic plan.<br>
<br>
·         Assist the HBCW Program Manager and Advisory Committee to update<br>
and implement HBCW’s strategic plan and individual project work plans.<br>
<br>
·         Support HBCW meetings and events, write and distribute meeting<br>
minutes, and facilitate follow-up activities and tasks.<br>
<br>
·         Coordinate HBCW’s Annual Hepatitis B Forum.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Communications<br>
<br>
·         Support the development and maintenance of hepatitis B educational<br>
materials.<br>
<br>
·         Represent HBCW at various local and state meetings.<br>
<br>
·         Coordinate media and outreach communication for HBCW as<br>
appropriate.<br>
<br>
·         Assist with updating and maintaining HBCW website.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Administrative<br>
<br>
·         Maintain HBCW email distribution list.<br>
<br>
·         Assist in writing grants and progress reports, and soliciting<br>
in-kind support.<br>
<br>
·         Assist with budget analysis and tracking.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Qualifications:<br>
<br>
·         Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health<br>
Education, Social Work or related field required.   Master’s Degree<br>
preferred.<br>
<br>
·         2-4 years experience in program planning/management required.<br>
<br>
·         Knowledgeable of priority populations, especially African-born<br>
immigrants and refugees, and related providers and organizations in Puget<br>
Sound.<br>
<br>
·         Committed to and knowledgeable of cultural competence, health<br>
disparities, and social justice theories and related community efforts.<br>
<br>
·         Demonstrated experience in community organizing in the public<br>
health field and with priority populations.<br>
<br>
·         Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, effective time<br>
management skills, and exercise sound judgment.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Required Skills:<br>
<br>
·         Knowledge of African cultures and languages a plus, specifically<br>
Ethiopian, Eritrean, Somali, and/or Kenyan/Tanzanian.<br>
<br>
·         Knowledge of hepatitis B prevention, treatment, and care, and<br>
related diseases preferred.<br>
<br>
·         Experience in and application of cultural competence, social<br>
justice, and health disparities theories and practices.<br>
<br>
·         Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to achieve consensus of<br>
varying opinions, organize and mobilize diverse people and resources to<br>
achieve a common goal.  Experience working with volunteers and community<br>
agencies.<br>
<br>
·         Excellent organizational and time management skills; strong<br>
oral/written communication skills.<br>
<br>
·         Experience in group facilitation, decision-making processes and<br>
meeting management.<br>
<br>
·         Experience collecting and analyzing data.<br>
<br>
·         Ability to be flexible and work both independently and<br>
collaboratively.<br>
<br>
·         Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.<br>
<br>
·         Self-starter and an independent learner.<br>
<br>
·         Proficiency in MS Office required.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
This is a part-time position that requires access to a car and a valid<br>
driver’s license and may require day/overnight travel.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Salary & Benefits:           $30,000 -$35,000 DOE (.75 FTE - 30 hours/week)<br>
<br>
