Grantees,

Have you ever wondered how that great thing that happened in a
neighboring community actually happened? Well, so have we. Next week's
grantees and contractors meeting is an opportunity to learn and share
success stories, or plan for success in the future.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, HPCDP is making
available a videographer and a limited number of 10-minute slots for you
to sit down with Metropolitan Group, colleagues and/or HPCDP staff and
create a success story. Maybe you*ve always wanted to ask your colleague
about his or her smokefree park policy change process? Maybe you*re
wondering how that other tribe passed a resolution for holding a
smokefree powwow? This is your opportunity to ask your colleague about
their process.

This offering is part of our ongoing efforts to better capture the
great work that you all do in your communities. The stories will be
edited/polished and may be placed on the OHA website and in the
electronic version of our Health Communities/Building Capacity report.
We are also happy to provide you with a copy of your story.

The interview space will be in the hallway near Embassy rooms 1 and 2.

As you think about this, some guiding questions might help. Here are
our suggestions, but your story is yours to share in your own words (or
to draw out of your colleague).
What was your biggest success in 2010-2011 toward achieving a healthier
community?
What did you learn in the process about your community and the people
involved?
What are your objectives for 2011-2012, and beyond, for creating a
healthier community?

We want to help you look good and feel comfortable for this, so Met
Group and HPCDP staff are on site to coach, and feel free to make some
notes to refer to (but not read from) during the 10 minutes.

If you think you*re interested, please let me know by noon Tuesday,
July 26, with your preferred time slot between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
You*ll also have an opportunity to sign up at the registration desk.
These are first come, first served. And don't forget to bring your
responses with you. Thanks so much.
