Hello TPEP Coordinators,

Thank you so much for actively participating and engaging in this week's required TPEP webinar on the Tobacco-free State Properties Executive Order. I wanted to follow-up with an email to answer some questions that came up so all have access to the answers.

- State agencies are currently working to determine which facilities are required to implement on Jan 1 or July 1. As we know from implementing Tobacco-free DHS and Tobacco Freedom, it's not necessarily black and white where facilities fall - particularly when it comes to leased and subleased properties, and intergovernmental agreements. It is the state agencies responsibility to determine which facilities fall into what category. If state agencies contact you for technical assistance, please refer them to me at my contact information below.

- The memo issued by the State Court Administrator (mentioned during Wednesday's webinar) is attached. As you can see, the memo lists specific building in Salem that are complying with the Executive Order. The Judicial Branch will design their own implementation plan and at this time we do not know if this includes any county properties.

- As we know with tobacco-free property policies, implementation and enforcement are not always perfect - it's important to recognize this is an opportunity to change the context around the norm of tobacco use in public places. As you work on developing, implementing and enforcing your own county property policies, we hope you can use the Executive Order to demonstrate the movement for tobacco-free workplaces and government properties.
