Hello Coordinators,
Below, please find a brief description and explanation of the HPCDP Communicators Group that Holly and I spoke briefly about during the optional TPEP TA calls earlier this month.

If you are interested in being part of this group, please send me your name, email address, and phone number by the end of the day on Friday, October 18, 2013.

Please be in touch with any questions or suggestions that you have about this group, or participation in it.

Thank you,
Kati

Kati Moseley, MPH| Health Promotion Strategist | Center for Prevention and Health Promotion | Public Health Division | Oregon Health Authority | 800 NE Oregon St, Suite 730, Portland, OR 97232 | Phone: 971-673-1002 | Mobile: 971-255-6732 | web: www.oshd.org/hpcdp<http://www.oshd.org/hpcdp>
1. Who
The Communicators Group consists of at least one grantee from each RSN and exists: (1) to make recommendations to and participate in strategizing with HPCDP staff regarding the section's health promotion strategy; and (2) coordinate state strategies with local campaigns to activate advocacy at the local level. HPCDP reserves final decisions on communications content, strategy, and focus.
Group members will attend 90 minute meeting every other month by phone (or in person if they prefer). Time commitment between meetings will depend on each participants desired level of engagement.
2. Why?
The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention section is committed to making the best use of limited health communications funds by leveraging work at the state with work in local and tribal communities. To meet this goal, grantee participation is essential.

a. Increased relevance of strategic health communication to local and tribal work plans in Oregon.

b. Increased relevance of HPCDP's health promotion support plan and activities to grantees work plan objectives.

  1. What?
Communicators Group members are responsible for communicating with other grantees through email, phone, RSN calls, and Quarterly TA calls to share Communicators Group discussion, solicit feedback and equip each Communicators Group member to represent the views and priorities of the grantee cohort. Communicators Group members are welcome to use the TPEP and Healthy Communities listservs to communicate with grantees as well.
Communicators Group members agree to coordinate with other grantees to gather information, formulate recommendations, and provide updates on Communicators Group work.
Communicators Group members may participate in the Group for as long as they wish, and can renegotiate their participation with their regional support network if they are the selected representative from this group.
The group will discuss and provide input and advice on HPCDP's overall strategic health promotion plan which includes paid media, social media, earned media, and media advocacy support to grantees.
4. When?
The Advisory Group will meet every other month, starting in October 2013.

5. Where?
Meetings will be held by teleconference, with in-person options in the PSOB.
