Agenda
· Welcome
· Quit Line Verbal Consent Fax Referral Form - Beth Sanders
· Tobacco Industry De-Normalization Media Campaign - Kati Moseley, Holly Heiberg, Anne Hoffman, Steve Kokes
· Questions- All
The October optional TPEP T.A. call is being set up as a webinar because it will include a discussion and presentation led by HPCDP's new communications team, Kati and Holly, who will discuss a framework being developed for a long-term, multi-media Tobacco Industry De-normalization (TID) campaign strategy. TID strategies have proven successful in California, Minnesota and Canada (among others) to prevent youth from smoking, motivate current smokers to quit, and educate non-smokers in tobacco control efforts. This strategy will not replace other media interventions such as Tips, but will be complimentary and help tell another strand of the anti-tobacco story. The TID story thread works well for state-wide initiation and localized narrative extension into predatory marketing towards youth, retail environment and point-of-purchase, and the real cost of smoking to all Oregonians.
Kati and Holly will:
• explain the development of the story arc for the campaign,
• show how the story may unfold over various media platforms (television, digital/social, earned,
direct grassroots mobilization),
• layout the findings from late Sept focus groups,
• give a sneak-peak of Phase I ads that will play in Fall/Winter 13, and
• discuss how this campaign can support grantees work and be leveraged locally.
